Program Length: Didactic 2 Hours 50 minutes  

The course meets the requirements of NFPA® 1001 for Firefighter I.

Program description:

After completing this lesson, the student shall be able to:
  • Iidentify indicators of an incendiary fire
  • Protect and preserve evidence after a fire following the policies and procedures set forth by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • Describe signs and indications of an incendiary fire
  • Summarize important observations to be made en route, after arriving at the scene, and during fire fighting operations
  • Discuss firefighter conduct and statements at the scene
  • Explain firefighter responsibilities after the fire
  • Discuss protecting and preserving evidence


Protecting Fire Scene Evidence Level II

Format of Program: Class presented as lecture (on-line coming soon) Hands On Program as well.

Program Length:  Didactic 3 Hours 

The course meets the requirements of NFPA® 1001 for Firefighter II.

Program description:

After completing this lesson, the student shall be able to:
  • Assist in the investigation of a suspicious fire and protect and preserve evidence after a fire following the policies and procedures set forth by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Discuss the roles of firefighters and investigators at investigations
  • Summarize important observations to be made en route, after arriving at the scene, and during fire fighting operations
  • Discuss firefighter conduct and statements at the scene
  • Explain firefighter responsibilities after the fire
  • Explain how legal considerations affect firefighters during operations that may involve incendiary evidence
  • Discuss protecting and preserving evidence

Hands On - 1 hour
  • Protect evidence of fire cause and origin.
